This year’s Black Friday gaming PC deals represent the turning point between two generations as we move from AMD and Nvidia’s existing graphics card genes to a terrifyingly expensive lineup of new GPUs. And that all means there should be a good number of high-end gaming PC deals out there with CPU and graphics card combinations that are still absolutely relevant, even facing a new generation.
There will likely be a number of RTX 3060-powered gaming PCs and similar mid-range machines coming at deep discounts during Black Friday and beyond, especially those touting 10th and 11th Gen Intel processors. Make sure you are aware of the changing landscape of graphics cards. Nvidia now has both the RTX 4090 (opens in new tab) and the RTX 4080 (opens in new tab) cards, and AMD has announced that its own high-end RX 7900 XT/X cards will also hit shelves on December 13.
We still have a while before the lower-end cards are replaced by their 40-series counterparts, so it’s still worth getting a deal on a PC with an RX 6600 XT, RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070 or RX 6800 XT card for Black Friday.
If you find a PC with an RTX 20 series or a similar generation AMD card, make sure you can’t find a machine with similar specs for the same price (or less) with an RTX 30 series or RX 6000 series card in it. Frankly, it’s going to have to be unfeasibly cheap before we’d recommend going back to an RTX 20-series or RX 5000-series GPU. Check out our cheat sheet to make sure you’re not overpaying for a gaming PC deal (opens in new tab). And to be honest, we wouldn’t bother with a 10 series map in this day and age unless you’re still just playing Age of Empires 2 and someone is literally giving it away.
Pay attention to the rest of the spec too, as today’s games probably won’t fit on a 250GB SSD, and you’ll be kicking yourself if you end up with single-channel RAM. Still, these are easy to upgrade afterwards if the deal is good enough… after all, there will be Black Friday SSD deals (opens in new tab) and RAM discounts are also going down.
As much as we love building our own gaming PCs, saving stress and money this year is worth a lot. There’s no shame in buying a ready-made gaming PC, especially if you can leave the professional design of the cooling and cable management to someone more experienced. A nice guarantee cannot be missed either.

When is Black Friday 2022?
Black Friday 2022 falls on November 25 this year and will effectively last through Cyber Monday on November 28.
Although, in reality, Black Friday is now a month-long event that continues pretty much throughout November. Indeed, since Amazon kicked off its Prime Early Access event in October, the deals have been rolling ever since.
What should I look for in a Black Friday gaming PC deal?
This Black Friday will be a good time to buy an Nvidia RTX 3050, RTX 3060 or RTX 3070 powered gaming PC or AMD equivalent. You should also look out for the lower end of Nvidia’s 30-series, but if you’re desperate for a machine that can beat 4K, we’d suggest skipping the 30-series altogether and waiting for the graphics cards of Nvidia’s 40 series to come down in price.
System builders like iBuypower also have their own pre-built systems that are ready to roll out of the store faster than custom designs. These iBuypower RDY systems (opens in new tab) can be with you in days, while other machines can take weeks or even months to arrive. Basically, keep in mind that a custom machine may not arrive in time for Christmas.
Last generation machines are also not as tempting as last year. At least not for the same money. However, all these last generation kits don’t just miraculously disappear, retailers and system builders have to sell it to make some money back. And while there’s nothing wrong with machines built around Zen 2, Intel 10th and 11th Gen CPUs, and Nvidia RTX 2080s if the price is right, just make sure you don’t pay too much to be dazzled by the rest of the Specifications.
As always when shopping for bargains, focus on what you need and don’t be tempted to grab a bargain just because something is cheap.
