Learn when to defend and when to dodge
When enemies attack in God of War Ragnarok, colored circles appear on the screen to indicate what to do. It is imperative that you pay attention to this. A yellow circle means a move can be parried, so just at the last moment before the hit lands, tap the L1 button to stagger your enemy. Meanwhile, a red circle means the attack will break your defenses, so dodge and roll out of the way.
Health bars represent your enemy’s strength
If you repeatedly encounter enemies who are trying to trick you, carefully consider the color of your aggressor’s energy bar. If they have a red HP meter, it means they are at a higher level than you currently are. While you may have some success against these enemies, it might be a good idea to come back once you’ve upgraded your equipment.
