The absurdly priced laptop I’d love to own

If I had unlimited money and could buy any gaming laptop it would be the Asus Rog Mothership GZ700.

I’d need an endless amount of cash to pay for the behemoth of a laptop as it’s currently selling for $6,000 (R103,000) – not including import fees, as it’s currently not for sale in South Africa.

Incredible specs

While it may command an astronomical price, it makes sense when you look at the specs of the laptop.

The laptop has an Intel i9 processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card with 8 GB of RAM, a 1.5 TB SSD and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.

Particularly impressive for a gaming-specific laptop is the 64 GB of RAM.

The internal hardware makes the Rog Mothership an absolute beast of a computer.

Nice design

Besides the incredible specs, the standout that sets the Rog Mothership apart from its competitors is that it can separate its keyboard from the screen, making it a hybrid between a gaming PC and a tablet.

This allows the user to rest the screen on the built-in back stand, which would be great for me as I prefer my screen further away.

It also offers a technical advantage, as it provides greater cooling for the processor and graphics card compared to a regular laptop.

This means the Rog Mothership can run any game at maximum settings without the system overheating.

One potential downside is that the screen is only 1920 x 1080, but considering the portrait screen size is only 17.3 inches, this isn’t a major issue as you’d need a much larger screen to really enjoy UHD content. or 4K resolutions.

My personal preference

This would be the perfect gaming laptop for the incredibly wealthy me, as I’d only want to buy one that can push games to their limits technically.

Plus, I come from a console background, so having a piece of hardware that can run games from scratch is a selling point for me.

I also have no experience building computers, so having a laptop with the hardware maxed out is excellent for me as I don’t want to upgrade it later.

My preference for a gaming laptop already built to the absolute max is why I’d buy a Rog Mothership if I were stupidly rich.
