These Black Friday deals on 2TB PS5 SSD upgrades are worth buying

Black Friday may be over, but these deals on PS5-compatible solid-state drives (SSDs) are still available over the weekend and possibly through Cyber Monday. You can’t use an old SSD and expect it to perform well on the PS5 console. You’ll want to buy a PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 solid-state drive with a rated read speed of 5,500 MB/s to match the PS5’s internal drive. Fast SSDs have come down in price significantly this year, making Black Friday 2022 a perfect opportunity to finally score some excellent deals on larger 2TB storage modules for your new PS5 gaming console.

How easy is it to install the SSD?

It’s extremely easy! Removing the cover is completely tool-free. In fact, the only screw you need to remove is the screw that holds the SSD bay cover in place. You don’t even put it back when you’re done. Sony has a quick and easy YouTube video guide.

What if the SSD I bought doesn’t have a heatsink?

Sony recommends installing an SSD with a heatsink attached. If the SSD you buy doesn’t include one, it’s easy enough to buy one for around $10 on Amazon and add it yourself. Most of these heat sinks are simply attached using an adhesive such as thermal tape.
